CorDEX Display Revs up Energy Ball to Raise Thousands of Pounds for Charity
CorDEX Instruments, the United Kingdom’s leading manufacturer of intrinsically safe equipment, has raised thousands of pounds for a north-east cancer charity at a glittering industry event in Aberdeen.
More than 1,000 people attended the Press and Journal Energy Ball at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) on Saturday, August 6 to enjoy one of the highlights of Scotland’s social calendar.
The event also raised money for Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal which aims to raise £3million to bring a Maggie’s Centre to the north-east. Based in Aberdeen, it would offer practical and emotional care to people who are fighting cancer as well as their loved ones.
CorDEX was a sponsor at the Energy Ball and also donated six tickets for a thrilling race day with Aberdeen racing driver Glynn Geddie at Knockhill Racing Circuit near Dunfermline.
The tickets raised £7,000 during a silent auction at the event, contributing to the £30,000 total raised for the charity on the night.
The company chose Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal as its charity to support for 2011 and last year announced a five-figure sponsorship deal with Glynn as he seeks to climb to the top step of the motorsport podium.
CorDEX Instruments Chief Executive, Tony Holliday, attended the Energy Ball with representatives from the company and was thrilled that the tickets had raised a large sum of money.
He said: “We are extremely pleased that we’ve been able to raise £7,000 for Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal and look forward to seeing our guests at the race day.
“CorDEX Instruments is proud to support this ambitious charity and it’s great we’ve been able to offer a race day with Glynn as a very exciting prize.”
Glynn, 21, is a British Racing Drivers Club’s Rising Star winner – an accolade previously awarded to Formula 1 World Champions Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton – and has been tipped for big things this season.
The Aberdeen race ace has been competing in a Ferrari 458 in both the British GT Championship and the FIA European GT3 Championship this season.
Glynn’s GT racing car was also on display at the Energy Ball and gave guests the opportunity to get a close-up view of the one of the most technologically advanced racing cars in its field.
Teesside-based CorDEX Instruments opened an office in Aberdeen in 2010 and has brought its unique product range to the oil and gas industry.
The company manufactures ATEX certified products including the world’s first explosion proof digital camera with flash and zoom, which can be used offshore without hot work permits.
CorDEX recently launched an intrinsically safe ultrasonic tool, the handheld UT5000 Intrinsically Safe Thickness Gauge, which can detect corrosion in pipelines and, for the first time, gives companies the ability through its CAMS software, to establish a predictive maintenance program to further improve safety.
