Make Sure You Comply!
BOGE recently achieved FGAS Company certification and all BOGE Service Technicians now hold Category II FGAS personnel certification, meeting the legal requirements of the F Gas Regulation for personnel who install, maintain and leak detect refrigeration systems. From the 4th July 2011 it became a legal requirement within Great Britain, that all companies and personnel who install, maintain or service stationery refrigeration equipment which contains or is designed to contain fluorinated greenhouse gases (F gases) hold certification.
BOGE recently achieved FGAS Company certification and all BOGE Service Technicians now also hold Category II FGAS personnel certification meeting the requirements of this Regulation.
For the end user, this Regulation means that they must only allow certified FGAS companies and personnel to carry out work on refrigeration systems. And, it is the owner of the refrigeration systems responsibility to ensure compliance with the F Gas Regulation.
In fact, there are a number of obligations that the owner of a refrigerant system must comply with. This not only includes using only appropriately qualified personnel to carry out installation, maintenance and leakage checking. Additionally, if your equipment contains 3 kg or more of F gas refrigerant you must have it annually checked for leakage by certified personnel.
Non-compliance carries a high price! Not only could the owner face a fine or even a whole site being shut down but operating a leaking refrigeration system will reduce system reliability and efficiency, heightening the associated energy costs.
