“ALC/ALV Series” IP66 Compliant Small Size AC-DC Power Supplies for LED Devices

TDK-Lambda Corporation (President : Yoshiaki Hirota, Head Office : Nihonbashi, Chuoku, Tokyo), a group company of TDK Corporation, has added new models of 60W, 80W and 100W types (total 12 models in 6 types) to the ALC/ALV series of IP66 compliant small size AC-DC switching power supply for LED devices. Order taking will commence on July 20, 2011.

The ALC/ALV product family consists of switching power supplies of constant current type and constant voltage type. The constant current type named the ALC series comes with 6 models (60W, 80W and 100W) and the constant voltage type named the ALV series also comes with 6 models (60W, 80W and 100W). They also give sufficient consideration to safety concerns through compliance with the requirements of the PSE standards (Japanese Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law). The ALC/ALV product family will be marketed for LED device applications under the brand of TDK-Lambda.

In the efforts of recent years toward realization of low-carbon society, LEDs are very much counted upon as the next generation light source and their market is growing more than ever. With the rapid shift from conventional lighting sources to LED lighting sources, LED devices are getting used in a wider range of applications. Today, even high capacity type lighting equipment and large sign boards use LED solutions. As a consequence, power supplies for LED devices are expected to deliver much more power. So our product family had to be expanded to meet these market requirements.

In order to meet these diversified requirements, we have added 12 models to the “ALC series” of constant current power supplies and the “ALV series” of constant voltage power supplies. With these additional models, the range of users' choices of power supplies for their specific applications has expanded. As for applications under severe environmental conditions that require dust repellent and splash proof characteristics, they give consideration to environmental resistance through compliance with the requirements of the IP66 standards thus they offer users greater flexibility in product design. In addition, the ALC/ALV series products offer operating ambient temperature range between -30ºC and +70ºC thus they can be easily installed in hermetically closed sign boards and equipment.

Furthermore, they are compliant with the IEC61000-3-2 Class C standards (harmonics standards for lighting equipment). As for safety standards, they are compliant with the PSE standards (Japanese Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law) for the Japanese market, the UL 8750 standards (US standards for safety of LED equipment for use in lighting equipment), the EN61347-1 standards (European safety requirements for lamp control-gear), the EN61347-2-13 standards (European safety requirements for electronic control-gear for LED modules), the CE marking, etc., thus they meet a wide range of customer requirements. We will continue to expand the ALC/ALV product family as our flagship power supplies for LED devices for the growing LED market.
