Photoelectric Flatpack Sensors

Balluff’s newest addition to the photoelectric family, the R01E, complements the proven inductive R01 family of sensors. These sensors offer diffuse versions with ranges up to 100 mm, polarized retroreflective with ranges up to one meter, and through beam sensor with ranges up to 2.2 meters. With a precise, uniform visible red light beam, alignment is easy and objects are reliably detected.

Not only does the small size provide flexibility in installation, but the stainless steel housing is built to survive the toughest applications in the harshest environments. Connections are made by cable or M8 three-pin quick disconnect.

Built to Balluff’s highest standards, all R01E sensors offer reverse polarity and short circuit protection. Balluff’s attention to quality, superior sensor design, and performance means better reliability, less down time, and higher productivity.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved. However, if sizing at this level prevents the motor from starting, it may then be necessary to increase the fuse ampere rating and it then becomes important to know the NEC sizing limitations.
