Amphenol Industrial's Amphe-OBTS

Amphenol Industrial Products Group now offers an outdoor connector designed for use in harsh environments. This new optimized base transceiver station (OBTS) connector helps meet the need of remote wireless radio power delivery.

Based on its predecessor, the Amphe-BTS, with 3 million installed worldwide. Amphenol has reduced the weight of this field-installable connector by 30% and added improved passive inter-modulation (PIM) performance. This reliable connector addresses the need for higher current that is being driven by modern high-performance remote installations.

Ideal for use in cell towers, wireless radios and wireless networks, the Amphe-OBTS maintains the legacy and performance of Amphenol's original BTS, which provided power from a wireless, mast-mounted base station to a remote radio head. This compact, energy-efficient connector is UL qualified to 26 A.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
