New Pneumatic Crimping Tool for Simple Handling

HARTING has developed a new crimping tool featuring simple handling: the CP 600 manual pneumatic crimping tool.

Its quick lock allows various tool heads to be easily and reliably inserted and removed in a matter of seconds.

The new tool can crimp Han® D, Han® E and Han® C contacts. Two tool heads are available, one for the cross-section range 0.14 mm2 to 4 mm2 (Han® D, Han® E and Han® C) and one for 6 mm2 and 10 mm2 cross-sections (Han® C).

The permissible pressure range of the pneumatic connection is between 6 bar and 8 bar, for crimping of Han® C contacts a pressure of 8 bar is necessary.

Optional accessories, such as a footswitch and table mounting, round out the offer for uniform, precision crimping.

The manual crimping tool measures 280 mm x 65 mm (length x diameter) and weighs 1.3 kg. The pneumatic crimping tool conforms to the RoHS/Directive 2002/95/EC and is "Made in Germany".

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
