New LinkRunner™ Duo CE Pocket Carrier Ethernet Test Set Reduces Service Turn-up Costs with Stand Alone Go/No-Go Test Ability

Fluke Networks, provider of innovative solutions for the testing, monitoring and analysis of enterprise and telecommunications networks, today announced the introduction of the new LinkRunner™ Duo CE Pocket Carrier Ethernet Test Set.  LinkRunner Duo CE offers the first financially viable alternative to “plug & pray” deployment of carrier Ethernet services.

Service providers installing carrier Ethernet have been forced to choose between costly testing of the service with a dedicated performance test set or plugging it in and hoping for the best.  LinkRunner Duo CE reduces costs by offering a simpler go/no-go test set that permits fast, efficient and affordable testing of both fiber and copper links, while eliminating costly callbacks and the resulting troubleshooting sessions.

Designed as a personal tool for every field technician
LinkRunner Duo CE is designed to go into the field with every technician who has to turn up and test carrier Ethernet service.  The tester is small (fits in a shirt pocket), lightweight (10 oz), and offers both low initial purchase price and low total cost of ownership.  A mini-USB port on the LinkRunner Duo CE allows software upgrades in the field in just minutes; optional Gold support provides upgrades at no additional charge. LinkRunner Connect software records test results for easy preparation of customer documentation, showing the condition of the service as delivered.

Reduce finger-pointing by solving customer-caused problems while on-site
LinkRunner Duo CE provides additional cost benefits by pinpointing problems on the customer side while the technician is still on-site.  Port identification, 802.1x testing, cable and connectivity tests and identification of speed and duplex mismatch issues all reduce “finger pointing” and callbacks.

Added versatility as reflector for advanced carrier Ethernet test sets
For service providers engaged in fully testing carrier Ethernet links, the LinkRunner Duo CE can act as a remote device for MetroScope Service Provider Assistant and other carrier Ethernet test sets. It supports testing for ProVision™, RFC 2544 and BERT across layer 1, 2, or 3 connections. It can be programmed to send back all frames, all non-broadcast frames, or only frames addressed to it, allowing LinkRunner Duo CE to be placed in the network without affecting service and replying only when tests are sent to it.

Product Availability
LinkRunner Duo CE is available for immediate delivery through Fluke Networks’ sales channels world wide.  The instrument comes equipped with a Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) port which accommodates a wide variety of SPF adapters.  Fluke Networks offers a range of SPF adapters; user-supplied adapters may also be employed.
