Strong-Drive® SDWC Structural Wood Screw Provides Single-Screw Solution for Truss and Rafter Connections
Simpson Strong-Tie has expanded its Strong Drive® SDW structural wood screw product line by offering the new code-listed SDWC, a time-saving and reliable option for fastening trusses and rafters to wall top plates. The code evaluation report was issued by IAPMO UES and can be downloaded here.
The entire length of the Strong-Drive® SDWC screw comprises a fully-threaded shank, providing a secure connection between the roof and wall framing members. The fastener's cap-style head countersinks fully into the double top plate to avoid interference with drywall or finish trades. The SDWC requires no pre-drilling and allows for a wide installation-angle range for faster and easier installation.
The SDWC offers fully tested loads in accordance with ICC-ES AC233 (screw) and ICC-ES AC13 (roof-to-wall assembly). The SDWC screw is sold with a matched-tolerance T-30, 6-lobe driver bit and metal installation guide tool.
