New Honeywell Scanning & Payment Accessory for iPod Touch to Improve Retail Experience

Honeywell has launched its first product in a new line of consumer digital device accessories to help retail associates better serve their in-store customers.  The Captuvo SL22 encasement turns the Apple® iPod Touch® into a retail scanner and magnetic stripe reader that can read credit cards or store loyalty cards.  The Captuvo SL22 allows store associates to connect to the internet on the showroom floor to look up products or verify pricing and ring up transactions on the spot.

The device utilizes Honeywell’s Adaptus™ Imaging Technology 6.0 to enable fast and accurate reading of virtually all barcodes, including those found on driver’s licenses and the screens of mobile devices.

“Honeywell’s patented technology and industry-leading scanning solutions allow us to layer on sophisticated retailing capabilities to everyday consumer devices,” said Peter Fehl, vice president of global marketing for Honeywell Scanning & Mobility. “It’s designed for retailers, but it really benefits customers, who have a faster shopping experience with more complete product and pricing information. It’s a win-win.”

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
