LRCC REceives Aavid Equipment Donation

Lakes Region Community College (LRCC) Energy Services Technology (EST) professors, Ed Maduskuie (Chocorua-left), and Keith Fletcher (Belmont-right), work in a control cabinet of a piece of automated machinery at Aavid Thermalloy located in O'Shea Industrial Park, Laconia. The Laconia based manufacturing business has made a donation of equipment that would cost LRCC more than $75,000 (seventy- five thousand) if purchased through College funding. The machinery and equipment will be used in the current Electrical and Energy Programs, and will also support a newly created Manufacturing Program that is scheduled to begin for the Fall 2012 Semester.

"Aavid's generous donation of the state-of-the-art machinery and equipment will be well utilized by LRCC students and faculty," says EST Department Head, Carl Daniels (Laconia), a former employee at Aavid Thermalloy. "Laconia Plant Manager, Mark Bartram (Moultonborough), and Operations Manager, David Lacroix (Sanbornton), should be commended for their generosity. May we develop students to meet the needs of advanced manufacturing enterprises like Aavid Thermalloy throughout the Lakes Region and beyond."

"This extremely generous donation is a classic example of the College's faculty working closely with their private industry partners to provide training programs that support the Lakes Region's business community by providing highly skilled graduates," says LRCC Vice President of Academic Affairs, Tom Goulette (Belmont). "College personnel are honored that Aavid chose LRCC to receive this donation. The entire Lakes Region manufacturing community will benefit by the training that the new equipment will provide."
