Honeywell Schools Teachers at Green Boot Camp

Honeywell partnered with three San Diego organizations to host the fourth annual Green Boot Camp, an interactive workshop focused on best practices for teaching energy, sustainability and environmental concepts to middle school students. As part of the five-day event in San Diego, 70 teachers from around the world are exploring the roots of green technology, sustainable living and environmental awareness, using local facilities as living laboratories.

Teachers are being educated on topics ranging from green energy solutions and greenhouse gas emissions to sustainability and the smart electrical grid. They will bring this knowledge back to the classroom to inspire students to take those principles out into the world and effect change. “I think sustainable jobs are undeniably a part of the future, and I see this opportunity as a way to learn how to inspire my students and get them excited about science, technology, engineering and math,” said Zamaria Rocio, 6th grade math and earth science teacher, Monroe Clark Middle School, San Diego.

Honeywell Green Boot Camp is helping to educate the next generation of green workers and build a foundation for environmental stewardship. The Green Boot Camp program was created as part of an environmental initiative of Honeywell Hometown Solutions, the company’s corporate citizenship initiative.
