B&K Precision Introduces New 1500 VA AC Power Source

B&K Precision today introduced a new AC power source, the model 1657, to further diversify its power supply offerings. The 1657 delivers up to 1500 VA in two selectable output voltage ranges of 135 VAC or 270 VAC, at frequencies from 45 Hz to 450 Hz. With a standard 19" rack-mountable design, this new AC power source is suitable for automated test environments and provides a complete solution for industrial product testing applications in design and manufacturing.

Important for engineers and technicians is the ability to characterize product performance on various line voltages, or under less than ideal input power conditions.  Settable voltage and frequency parameters in AC sources are therefore an absolute necessity for input voltage margin testing at 50 and 60 Hz, or in avionics testing where equipment is operated at the 400 Hz range.

The high efficiency 1657 features a programmable AC output voltage up to 270 VAC, and an adjustable frequency from 45 Hz to 450 Hz. The power source offers a universal line output terminal and built-in PFC to provide an input power factor of 0.99 at full load.

Voltage and frequency parameters are set via the front panel’s easy-to-use control knob, paired with a bright VFD display that continuously displays the output voltage, current, power, and frequency with a 0.1 V / 0.01 A / 1W / 0.01 Hz resolution. Users will also benefit from the 1657's RS232 remote interface for remote communication through a PC.

The 1657 provides automatic protection against overload, short circuit, and overtemperature conditions indicated by an alarm LED, as well as a convenient output On/Off switch for additional safety.
Available immediately, B&K Precision's 1657 AC power source is listed at a price of $4,250.
