The Right Data Centre for Every Size of Company

"Managing trust - confidence and security in the digital world" is the keynote theme at this year's CeBIT. Comprehensive IT security is also at the centre of Rittal's solutions, too. At Hall 11, Stand E06, over an area of around 2,000 square metres, the IT infrastructure system provider is displaying a flexible IT platform for the construction of secure data centres of all sizes. Depending on the economic situation and the availability, and security needs, Rittal offers data centres in a variety of sizes: from the "data centre in one enclosure" for small businesses to Data Centre Containers for mobile use through to separate server rooms and infrastructures for large data centres. Another highlight at the Rittal stand is the new "TS IT" rack.

Cost reduction, higher energy efficiency and the optimization of data centres: these requirements are on the agenda of many data centre managers and CIOs. To address these issues, Rittal can offer a coordinated system platform for every size of company, as well as for each availability and security requirement. Five different solutions are presented at the stand.

The "Rittal - The System." platform includes new IT infrastructure components, standardization options, and solutions for automated data centre operation. It is a portfolio where customers can obtain all their services from a single source so that their data centre requirements can be individually met.

Security is top priority for all the solutions. Christoph Caselitz, Chief of Customer Operations at Rittal explains: "For us, the CeBIT motto 'Managing Trust' means comprehensive infrastructure security in data centres. On the one hand, our focus is on the physical protection of the components, by means of racks, safes and security rooms, for example. On the other hand, intelligent protection by our sensors and monitoring software ensures permanent availability. With our continuous IT systems approach, we are covering essential safety aspects both in traditional data centres, as well as in cloud-based ones."

In addition to security awareness, the issues of energy efficiency and sustainability are still of great importance, of course. Investment decisions on new projects and on modernization measures depend greatly on the expected operating costs and the underlying efficiency of the solution. This pervades all aspects of technical infrastructure, especially in cooling solutions, of which Rittal is exhibiting scalable, high-efficiency systems in a variety of applications. In customer projects, for instance, it is possible to reach PUE (Power usage effectiveness) values as good as 1.2.

Rittal is presenting server and infrastructure solutions contained in a single enclosure for small businesses and dispersed locations. This extremely compact, space-saving solution can also be implemented in a security safe that protects the IT components from physical danger.

Larger enclosure series, as well as flexible container solutions with different climate control options for accommodating IT components are available for medium-sized companies. In addition, for large data centres, Rittal is presenting separate rooms for servers and the technical infrastructure with power back-up, cooling and fire protection technology.

The "Rittal - The System." platform integrates enclosures and components for power supply, cooling, monitoring and IT-security in a comprehensive and ideally coordinated solution. Visitors are encouraged to discover the many advantages based on hands-on examples that are presented at interactivity islands.

Rittal is introducing a large number of innovations at CeBIT. These include the "TS IT"; a new IT rack including accessories. Another innovation is the new Power Distribution Unit (PDU) that uses snap-in technology and which links to the Rittal Computer Multi Control (CMC) security management concept. A new generation of Modular Safes based on the TS 8 rack platform can also be viewed. In addition to the now well-known Data Centre Containers, the company is also presenting a solution in ISO dimensions.

All the innovations are intended to help customers fulfil their requirements. Therefore the Rittal IT infrastructure solutions function according to the "pay as you grow" principle. This means they are flexible and expandable in line with current customer requirements and thus ideally adapted to the growth of the company and its business activities. The cost of the IT infrastructure can be reduced by standardization and by using coordinated system components. Efficient components and solutions, such as UPS systems or power and cooling units with a high degree of efficiency, provide optimal performance data.
