8360 SERIES :: THROUGH-HOLE, 360 DEGREE NON-CONTACTING POSITION SENSOR

BEI Duncan Electronics has added the 8360 hollow shaft, through-hole, non-contacting position sensor series to its comprehensive line of robust, highly accurate position sensors. Featuring 360 degree continuous rotational capabilities in a low-profile, through-hole package, the new device provides an ideal solution for applications where space and sensor mounting flexibility are critical.

The 8360 Sensor’s hollow shaft package is less than 16mm thick, allowing easy interface to space restricted applications as well as applications where a blind shaft mount is not feasible. With its thin through-hole package, the 8360 offers OEMs and design engineers complete versatility.

Designed in a durable package, the 8360 is especially suited for applications in harsh environments such as industrial vehicles/material handling, agricultural and construction equipment, process controls, marine, aero-defense, energy, robotics, medical systems and valve actuation. Specific uses include position sensing for steering wheel, boom angle, throttling, pivoting, and traction control.

The 8360 Sensor can be customized to fit individual customer requirements. Product modifications can include multi-turn capability, CAN Bus communication, custom electrical angle, shaft interface, connector type, cable length, output slope, IP67 sealing, operating temperatures to 125ยบ C, input voltage, and active rotational angles other than 360 degrees.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
