Largest Transformer for Pulp and Paper

WEG has recently supplied a package of 46 transformers, 89 frequency drives, 1000 electric motors and 796 Motor Control Centers as well as management and technical commissioning to Eldorado Papel e Celulose. Eldorado part of J&F Holding, which in its turn controls JBS Friboi, and MCL Empreendimentos. This supply is intended to integrate the largest fiber production facility in the world currently under construction in the town of TrĂªs Lagoas, state of Mato Grosso do Sul- Brazil.

One of WEG´s Business Units, WEG T&D is designing for Eldorado the largest dry transformers in size and weight ever manufactured by this division featuring high power and the highest voltage class ever supplied in Brazil (36.2kV).

Expected to begin operations in November 2012, Eldorado production is estimated at 1.5 million tons per year of bleached eucalyptus pulp. At the present moment, this volume ensures the company the title of largest single fiber production line in the world. Other than fiber, Eldorado will produce 220 ​​MW power/hour and will generate about 2000 direct jobs.
