Introducing EasyNest™ Automatic Nesting for the Vision T5 CNC

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products introduces EasyNest™, an optional feature that adds automatic true-shape nesting capabilities to its Vision T5 CNC. By integrating with ESAB’s EasyShape library, EasyNest makes part nesting easier than ever. Parts can be added from the shape library, imported from CAD files, or imported from existing part programs. The operator simply enters the sheet size and the desired number of each part. The Vision T5 then generates as many sheets as necessary to fit the required parts.

EasyNest permits automatic nesting right at the machine, eliminating the need to purchase off-line programming software for many applications. Many small shops prefer to have the machine operator also do the programming and nesting, and EasyNest makes this easier than ever.

EasyNest lets an operator quickly generate nests using one or more programs to be cut from the same material, maximizing plate utilization. This not only saves time in programming but also reduces the machine set-up time by cutting multiple parts in one set up.

ESAB’s easy-to-use Wizard interface takes only minutes to learn, with no CAD or nesting experience required. The EasyNest feature is integrated with the EasyShape library and uses the same Wizard interface with its simple, guided, step-by-step operation. Even an untrained operator can learn to use EasyNest in just a few minutes.

Operators can import CAD files directly into EasyNest, which will automatically post-process the shape and automatically apply ESAB’s Precision Hole Technology to small holes and slots where applicable. Parts can be imported in DWG or DXF format. EasyNest can also import shapes created using the EasyShape library or existing part programs.

EasyNest provides powerful true-shape, part-in-part nesting capabilities. It allows operators to easily re-nest sheets, change part quantity and add or delete parts. The operator works with a list of all parts that have been added, showing how many of each is required, how many have already been nested, and how many did not fit on the sheet. Individual parts can be added and deleted or quantities can be changed as required to achieve the desired nest. Additional sheets can be added until all parts are nested. Each sheet is graphically previewed and can be deleted and re-nested as desired. Two different nesting methods are available, and each can easily be tried to achieve optimal nesting efficiency depending on the part shapes and mix.

EasyNest automatically adds lead-ins/lead-outs based on material type & thickness. All lead-in and lead-out technology is added automatically based on the operator’s selection of material type, thickness and cutting process. When cutting carbon steel using ESAB’s m3 Plasma™ system, ESAB’s Precision Hole Technology is automatically applied to small holes and slots.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays.
