New Modular Distributed I/O System - ST Series

Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. is proud to announce the expansion of our distributed I/O capabilities with an all new solution called the ST Series. ST Series is a modular distributed I/O system that operates as a slave device station for either CC-Link or Profibus DP device-level networks. The new ST Series is well-suited for a wide range of applications, such as automotive assembly and production lines; material handling, sorters and conveyor lines; and packaging, labeling and stacking machinery.

ST Series is a distributed I/O system that operates as a slave device for either CC-Link or Profibus device level networks. This modular system features a head unit, power supply and compact I/O that snaps quickly together on DIN rail to form a remote system or node. This modular system enables builders to easily configure nodes that are flexible and provide long term serviceability while best meeting machine requirements. Plant personnel will appreciate the expansion capabilities along with the ability to quickly service and replace I/O without impacting production. Ideal for many machine builders and manufacturing facilities seeking moderate I/O concentrations.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved. However, if sizing at this level prevents the motor from starting, it may then be necessary to increase the fuse ampere rating and it then becomes important to know the NEC sizing limitations.
