Honeywell Celebrates Children’s Day in Shanghai; Hosts Students from Remote Sichuan Village

Honeywell Celebrated China’s International Children’s Day with a number of activities in its Shanghai office to support China schools and inspire students and teachers.

As part of its Sichuan Rebuilt School Scholarship, Honeywell hosted three students and three teachers from the Honeywell United Primary School, rebuilt in 2009 by Honeywell and partners following the Sichuan earthquake, for a three-day program that included a visit to a Shanghai primary school, Yangshan, the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, and Honeywell facilities to help improve their skills and broaden their perspectives.

Wang Guihua, one of the Sichuan teachers expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Honeywell saying, “This trip was a once-in-a-lifetime event to the teachers and the students. We had many firsts in our lives: we saw the sea for the first time, ate at a McDonald’s for the first time, had a ride in the subway for the first time… I’ve seen other companies implement programs at Sichuan schools, but none has gone to such extra lengths as Honeywell did, and I thank each and everyone involved for the kindness and thoughtfulness.”

To celebrate the day, Honeywell’s Performance Materials and Technologies business hosted students from the Zhangjiang Center Primary School, providing the children with a tour of the new Honeywell Technology Experience center and a special lecture titled “When I Was at Your Age” by Dr. Niu Yongming, a Honeywell technologist who grew up in a remote village and followed his dream to become a successful scientist.

Honeywell Business Solutions and Honeywell Aerospace also hosted an event at the Zhangjiang High Tech Park where employee children had the opportunity to learn more about Honeywell.
