Harwin Wins Prestigious EEF Future Manufacturing Award for Outstanding Export Performance

Harwin, the leading hi-rel connector and SMT board hardware manufacturer, was recently honoured by the EEF – the organisation which represents UK manufacturers – as winner of the award for Outstanding Export. The annual awards, sponsored by UK Trade & Investment recognise excellence in enterprise, innovation, environmental performance and skills development among UK manufacturers.

At the awards ceremony, UK Trade & Investment CEO Nick Baird said: “I want to congratulate Harwin on its overseas trade achievements. Harwin and runners up Pacepacker Services Ltd are shining examples of what can be achieved working in a tough economic climate, if you take your business to the international arena. They also demonstrate that the UK is strong across many sectors." FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
