B&K Precision Introduces New 5 1/2-Digit True RMS Bench Multimeter

B&K Precision today introduced its new 5 1/2-digit bench digital multimeter (DMM), the model 5492B, expanding its present 4 1/2-digit (2831E) and 50,000-count (5491B) DMM offerings. Featuring a 120,000-count display resolution, the 5492B provides 0.01% basic VDC accuracy along with a broad range of functions, and is suitable for any application requiring accurate and reliable measurements, all at an affordable price.

The 5492B offers many essential measurements for benchtop testing: DC voltage and true RMS AC voltage; DC current and true RMS AC current; two- and four-wire resistance; continuity; diode test; frequency; and period. The DMM also includes a variety of built-in math functions such as Rel, Max/Min, dBm, dB, %, limits, and Mx+B.

Additionally, the 5492B is equipped with an internal buffer capable of storing up to 512 readings at a rate of up to 57 readings/s. Buffer storage operation and retrieval can be completed from the front panel or via remote command. The multimeter can also calculate statistical information from the buffer such as the minimum, maximum, or average reading, and standard deviation of the stored readings.

Advanced triggering options are provided on the front and rear panel, which enable users to manually trigger a measurement from a key press, send a bus trigger via remote control, or input an external trigger signal. A VM Comp (voltmeter complete) output terminal is accessible to indicate the completion of a measurement.

Programmable via SCPI commands, the 5492B comes standard with USB and RS232 interfaces, and offers a built-in GPIB interface option (model 5492BGPIB) for labs and system integrators. PC remote control software is provided for front panel emulation or simple measurement data logging functions.

Available immediately, B&K Precision's 5492B and 5492BGPIB are listed at a price of $649 and $789 respectively.
