YSI Water Quality Monitors are Mcerts Certified

YSI has announced that its Professional Series of portable water quality monitors have been awarded an Mcerts certificate at WWEM 2010. The certificate was awarded following trials conducted by the Environment Agency of England and Wales (EA). Mcerts is the EA's monitoring certification scheme, which is designed to assure the quality and reliability of environmental measurements.

Mcerts is comprised of a number of different schemes, one of which applies to instruments that are employed in the continuous monitoring of water, which includes samplers, flowmeters and online water quality monitors. YSI was presented with an Mcerts certificate for the 6 series sondes in 2008 and the new certificate expands the range of Mcertified equipment now available from YSI.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
