Instrument Suited for Onsite Balancing of Rotors

SKF has extended its Microlog range of portable data-collection systems with the introduction of an instrument that is suited for the onsite balancing of rotors. Suitable for electrical motor rewinders, the SKF Microlog Field Balancer will support single- or dual-plane balancing and, with its easy-to-follow menus, can provide a simple summary report of trial and balancing runs, prior to the engineer leaving site. The SKF Microlog Field Balancer ensures that machinery can operate at optimum performance levels and that operating costs are reduced.

Using robust, high-speed data processors, the Field Balancer provides real-time display updates of vibration amplitude and phase angle, while calculating the optimum trial/correction weights as required. The handheld SKF Microlog Field Balancer incorporates SKF's proven balancing firmware, as well as the FFT analysis and bump test module to assist in confirming an out-of-balance problem exists at the outset, or by identifying other common machine faults.

Using the on-screen step-by-step guide, static, couple or dynamic imbalances can be corrected easily, either through continuous 360deg or fixed locations. The SKF Microlog Field Balancer is compact, simple to operate and features a rugged, IP-65 rated ergonomic design to ensure a reliable and particularly long service life. On-screen user assistance can be viewed clearly on the instrument's high-visibility 6.4in VGA colour display, meaning it can be used as easily by non-vibration experts as experienced maintenance engineers. The unit is supplied in a durable site carrying case, complete with two accelerometers, a laser tachometer and cables. An optional pocket jet printer is also available to provide onsite balancing summary reports if required.
