Linescan Cameras for Machine Vision Systems

Alrad Imaging has extended its range of Aviiva EM series of linescan cameras from E2V, which now incorporate high-performance sensors for demanding inspection applications. All models in the Aviiva EM series of linescan cameras feature the improved back-thinned sensor design, which is said to offer better sensitivity and spectral response. Through this sensor, the cameras offer an improvement in maximum data rate and can now run at 40MHz per tap, therefore, up to 160MHz for a four-tap camera.

E2V designs and manufactures the linescan Aviiva, Diviina and Eliixa camera ranges. There are three cameras in the Aviiva EM series range. Aviiva EM1 is suitable for applications requiring ease of use, high functionality, low system cost and a Gigabit Ethernet interface, combined with high electro optical and line rate performances. The Aviiva EM2 is designed to be the best choice for mid-range applications, with resolutions from 500 to 4,000 pixels. The high-performance electronics and CCD design provide excellent results in terms of image quality and signal-to-noise ratio, according to the company.

Coupled with features such as automatic flat field correction, look-up table and automatic tap balance, the EM2 is suitable for demanding inspection applications. The EM2 uses Cameralink interface. The Aviiva EM4 offers resolutions of up to 4,096 pixels. Its built-in features, including automatic FCC, LUT and ATB, mean it can be used for high-demanding machine vision applications. The Cameralink interface is also used on this camera.
