Resistors Protect Against Sulphurated Environments

Rutronik is offering the Yageo AF Series of resistors, designed for environments exposed to high levels of contamination, such as industrial control systems, sensors and electric instrumentation. The anti-sulphurated devices satisfy demanding product applications and are suited for electronic appliances used in high concentrations of sulphur gases.

Yageo offers its AF series resistors in full size range, 0402/0603/0805/1206, with high degree of anti-sulphurated capabilities. According to international norms ASTM test, the series meets the most stringent testing standards with excellent anti-sulphuration characteristics. Yageo introduced the AF series resistors using special materials other than gold in the inner electrode with an alteration of the resistor structure to improve the anti-sulphuration capabilities and to save costs.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
