JBJ supplies thermostats with Atex certification

JBJ has announced that its TRI type thermostats are Atex certified by the manufacturer in accordance with the requirements specified within directive 94/9/EC. The thermostat's probe is protected on the TA model by an external sheath, while models TR and TS are protected by a double sheath - the internal one is for explosion-proof equipment while the external one is a watertight sheath.

The 94/9/EC Atex directive is in accordance with the following standards: EN 50014 (1997) + A1 e A2, EN 50018 (2000), EN 50281-1-1 (1999) + A1. Type of protection include II 2 GD EEx d IIB+H2 T6 IP65 T85C and II 2 GD EEx d IIB+H2 T5 IP65 T100C. The ambient temperature operating range is -20C to +40C and -20C to +60C. FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
