Degreasing Solvent Offered As TCE Alternative

Lenium GS vapour degreasing solvent, available from Stowlin Croftshaw, is suitable as a drop-in replacement for trichloroethylene (TCE). Formulated with n-propyl bromide, it has aerospace approvals and is approved by the US EPA's Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) as an alternative to ozone-depleting substances. Lenium GS is part of Petroferm's Lenium range of vapour degreasing solvents. It removes adhesives, buffing compounds, drawing oils, fluxes, pastes, greases, hydraulic oils, lapping compounds, resins, inks, silicone oils and high melting waxes. As well as TCE, it is also a drop-in replacement for HCFC-141b, HCFC-225, hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perchloroethylene (PCE) and methylene chloride (MeCl).

The solvent can be used in a variety of commercially available cleaning equipment, including open-top and vacuum vapour degreasers. It leaves low surface residue and is safe to use with ferrous and non-ferrous alloys such as aluminum, copper and copper alloys, magnesium, nickel, steel, stainless steel, titanium and zinc. Lenium GS is also compatible with many polymeric substrates and elastomers. Other features include built-in stabilisation, a fast drying time and inflammability.
