Autodesk Releases Enhanced Communication Software

Autodesk has released the latest version of its Inventor Publisher technical communication software, which helps manufacturers to explain their products with clear 2D and 3D documentation. The Autodesk Inventor Publisher 2011 software incorporates a series of enhancements, including the ability to publish 3D interactive instructions directly to Iphone, Ipad and Ipod Touch mobile devices. A free companion Autodesk Inventor Publisher Mobile Viewer app helps mobile technicians and salespeople to access 3D interactive instructions.

Robert Kross, senior vice-president of the Autodesk Manufacturing Industry Group, said: 'Inventor Publisher enables manufacturers to get the full benefit of their digital design data and explain their products in a modern, interactive way. 'The ability to publish to a wide variety of formats and mobile devices encourages more effective product communication with broader audiences than ever before,' he added. Inventor Publisher features publishing support for 3D PDF and 2D vector graphics as well as tighter CAD interoperability. The software extends digital prototyping to documentation teams through the richer, higher-fidelity import of Autodesk Inventor data and integration with the Autodesk Vault data management software.

The latest version of Inventor Publisher also features enhanced authoring capabilities; users can create detail views, section planes, bills of materials and parts lists and have access to more ways to communicate key concepts and information. Inventor Publisher 2011 helps manufacturers to reduce documentation, service and training costs, while delivering a better customer experience that can drive revenue and help to reduce product returns, according to Autodesk. For example, 3D instruction manuals could help to cut return costs for manufacturers that currently lose money when customers return products simply because they cannot figure out how to assemble or use them.
