IFM Launches Compact Temperature Plug

IFM Electronic, a supplier of sensors and control systems for use in food and beverage, water treatment, automotive and pharmaceutical applications, has launched an IP67-sealed temperature plug. The company claims that the TP temperature plug requires less space, performs better and costs less than cumbersome, leaky, outmoded boxes. IFM Electronic already supplies Type TT or TS Pt 100 and Pt1000 temperature pickups with an integral M12 connector, not only to facilitate connection but also to provide a seal of at least IP67 and a robust mechanical link.

This probe can now be plugged directly into the TP, which will send the resulting measurement as a 4-20mA signal back to the panel, via another M12 sealed connector. Using M12 connectors all round means that the transmitter can be mounted anywhere between the probe and the panel, as space or other factors require. The TP is a fraction of the size of a head transmitter, more robust and itself sealed to IP67, according to IFM Electronic. It can be scaled from a PC using a USB interface, as the built-in communication protocol is the latest IO-Link; this is also means that, in the future, scaling instructions can be sent via other non-proprietary systems.
