Matrox Announces Smart Camera Workshops

Matrox Imaging and North Coast Technical Sales are offering free three-hour workshops on the Matrox Iris GT smart camera and Design Assistant software. Participants will complete several projects using Design Assistant's integrated development environment and learn how machine vision applications can be configured and deployed more quickly and easily using a Matrox Imaging smart camera. Participants will also have the chance to speak with the instructor about their specific application requirements.

Session one of the Matrox Design Assistant Workshop will take place on 1 November 2010 from 13:00 until 16:00 and session two will be held on 2 November 2010 from 13:00 until 16:00. Both sessions take place in Room E-264, Level 2, at the Lakeside Center Building in Chicago. All course materials are provided. Participants must register in advance and are responsible for bringing a laptop running Microsoft Windows XP, Vista or 7.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
