Metal Cable Clips Increase Design Flexibility

Harwin has introduced a range of surface-mount wire management cable clips that is suited for high-volume commercial and industrial markets as well as consumer electronics applications. The cable clips have been specifically designed to be automatically placed and soldered directly to the PCB. Part of the company's EZ-Boardware portfolio, the clips are designed to replace devices that require installation by hand - a time-consuming and costly exercise.

Harwin's metal clips are physically much smaller than equivalent plastic wire management clips. They are placed directly onto solder pads, therefore negating the need to drill retaining holes in the PCB, offering space and cost savings. In addition, the clips are ultra-low-profile and do not protrude through the PCB, increasing design flexibility. Supplied on tape and reel and fully compatible with automated manufacturing and soldering processes, Harwin said its metal cable clips offer good mechanical performance and are available in four different sizes to accommodate a range of wires between 1.0mm and 3.0mm in diameter.

Paul Gillam, product manager at Harwin, said: 'Historically, wire management clips have to be assembled to the PCB after component placement, which is both time-consuming and expensive. 'These metal surface-mount clips eliminate secondary assembly processing, provide a secure positive retention to PCB, save space and put less restrictions on the PCB layout,' he added.
