Littelfuse Introduces 100020 Fuse clips for 5x20mm Size Fuses

Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS:LFUS), the leader in circuit protection, today introduced its new 100020 fuse clips for the traditional 5x20mm size fuses. These are the first fuse clips that can meet the application requirement of 20A rated current and 600V rated voltage for the 5x20mm size fuse.

The new 100020 fuse clips were designed to provide a PCB mounting solution for applications where high power fuses are used. This is consistent with the company's expertise in providing safety components for high energy circuit protection.

The new 100020 fuse clips can meet the application requirement of 20A rated current and 600V rated voltage for the 5x20mm size fuse for use as a carrier. They are well suited for Littelfuse 215 Series (15A to 20A), 477 Series (600Vac/400Vdc) and 977 Series (450Vdc) fuses, which are designed for a wide range of industrial and consumer product applications such as power supplies, inverters in LCD backlight units, primary and secondary protection for white goods, electronic ballasts for fluorescent lighting, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, motor control circuits, and other high-energy applications.

The 100020 fuse clips are recognized under the components program of UL.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
