Solutions for Packaging Machines: From Sensors, Circuit-Breakers, Frequency Inverters, Lean Connectivity with SmartWire-DT to Lean Automation
As one of the leading manufacturers of components and systems for electrical engineering and automation, Eatons Electrical Sector is presenting a wide range of solutions for packaging machines at its stand C95, in Hall 13 at the Interpack 2011 fair. These range from sensors, circuit-breakers, frequency inverters, to lean connectivity with SmartWire-DT, right through to lean automation solutions. One highlight of the Eaton stand is a customized packaging machine featuring Eatons PKE motor-protective circuit-breakers integrated with SmartWire-DT.
The highlights presented on the Eaton stand are as follows:
Increased efficiency thanks to SmartWire-DT.
With SmartWire-DT Eaton has initiated a new age of connectivity between individual control cabinet components. This enables users to combine Eaton pilot devices, contactors, motor-protective circuit-breakers, motor starters and/or soft starters into an impressive concept and thus benefit from a simple and lean automation solution - from the planning and project design to mounting, right through to the actual operation of a machine. Eaton solutions offer more than lean connectivity: Eatons combined HMI-PLCs are integrated into the concept, thus eliminating the need for remote I/O stations and interfaces to the central PLC. A "lean automation" solution, consisting of SmartWire-DT and HMI/PLC technology "slims down" control cabinets, simplifies the wiring, increases data transparency, reduces engineering and commissioning requirements, increases performance, reduces the cost requirements, as well as bringing fewer fault sources and greater flexibility for modular machine concepts.
Increased machine availability through the use of industrial sensors.
The requirements placed on automation solutions in industrial environments are continuously increasing, demanding greater speed and optimum precision from every machine. Sensors that are intelligent, reliable and easy to operate play an essential role with high availability machines. As well its ease of programming and flexible connectivity, Eatons extensive product range, such as photoelectric sensors, is ideally suited for use in several industrial environments. The best example of this is the E67 photoelectric sensor with background suppression. The E67 uses an infra-red sensing beam with excess gain. The E67 sensor can detect both opaque and transparent objects at distances of up to 200 centimeters accurately and regardless of the object background. It is therefore ideal for fault-free operation on wrapping machines. Photoelectric sensors like the E67 prevent, for example, the incorrect starting of wrapping processes thus preventing the wastage of wrapping material. They also prevent the incomplete wrapping of a pallet.
