Siemens PLM Software's NX 8 Includes Comprehensive Enhancements Throughout with Focus on CAE

Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced the latest release of NX™ software, the company’s fully integrated computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering analysis (CAD/CAM/CAE) solution. NX 8 includes extensive enhancements to its CAE offering – including its widely used NX Nastran® software for solving some of the world’s most challenging simulation problems. Today’s announcement further establishes NX CAE as one of the world’s leading simulation solutions for product development, while unveiling new capabilities throughout the NX design and manufacturing modules that build on Siemens PLM Software’s high-definition PLM (HD-PLM) vision and expand its digital manufacturing offerings for the machinery industry.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
