MB Diode - UL Approved Redundancy Module

Murrelektronik's MB Diode is a UL approved redundant power supply switching device with a design that decouples power supply units to provide connected spare power supply without interrupting operation in the event of power supply failure.

The redundancy module integrates all 24V DC power supply units into the system through one or several modules in the MB Diode series, providing an immediate solution to electrical engineers while also reporting the problem to the control with integrated signal contacts. The affected power supply failure is indicated via LEDs located directly on the MB Diode module.

MB Diode is contained in a compact housing, which is similar to the housing used for MICO, Murrelektronik’s intelligent power distribution system. Thanks to a bridge system, several redundancy modules can be connected together or to MICO modules. This considerably reduces wiring efforts. Spring clamp terminals can be easily connected to cables with wide diameters.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
