Cost-Effective Solution for Nitrogen Generation on Off-Shore Platforms from Michell Instruments
The XTP600 Thermo-paramagnetic Oxygen Analyzer from Michell Instruments provides an effective solution for maintaining the quality of Nitrogen produced.
Nitrogen with less than 3% oxygen is required for various applications on off-shore platforms and requires oxygen monitoring to ensure both product quality and safety. The XTP600 analyzer is placed on the outlet of the dryers and acts as a trigger to vent any product that does not meet the safety standard of less than 3% oxygen in the nitrogen. The thermo-paramagnetic sensor responds to changes and fluctuations in the levels of oxygen - which allows any contaminated gas to be vented, and also for the venting to be halted after the safety standard has been met, reducing wastage.
Due to its rugged construction and lack of moving parts, the XTP600 is highly suited to the rigors off shore work as it is resistant to vibration or shock. For the production of Nitrogen, the unit is specifically calibrated to ensure optimum accuracy at 3%, but can be calibrated with oxygen-free nitrogen and air (20.9% oxygen in nitrogen). Calibration intervals can be up to 3 months apart to ensure minimal user intervention. The 4-20mA output range can be set independent of the calibrated range to provide an excellent signal in the area that is most useful to the client. Because of its non-depleting technology, there are no sample cells to replace, which helps keep the cost of ownership to a minimum.
The analyser is suitable for use in ATEX Category 2 Hazardous Areas (when fitted with flame arrestors), has an IP66 ingress protection rating and is certified for use in ambient temperatures from -50°C to +60°C.
