Sensors Save Energy in Consumer Appliances
Murata has launched the IRS-B series of dual- and quad-type surface-mount pyro-electric infrared sensors for use in energy-saving applications in consumer appliances. The series comprises three models: IRS-B210ST01, IRS-B340ST02 and IRS-B345ST03. Measuring 4.7 x 4.7 x 2.4mm, these small devices offer high sensitivity and signal to noise ratio, high stability against temperature changes and a low power consumption.
The sensors provide a cost-effective method of 'waking up' a consumer appliance, such as a television, photo frame or room lighting, from an energy-saving standby mode to normal operation once human movement has been detected. The IRS-B345ST03 device also has the capability of detecting minor motion, such as a waving hand or head.
