Boge Equips Screw and Piston Compressors with IE 3 Electrical Motors as Standard

Boge has announced that all of its screw compressors and the majority of its piston compressors are now equipped with energy-efficient IE 3 electrical motors as standard. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) recently introduced the EN IEC 60034-30 standard to harmonise international motor efficiencies.

According to Boge, this standard divides motors into three efficiency classes — IE 1, IE 2 and IE 3 — and regulates the various energy standards for electrical motors. From June 2011, all new motors within the EU must at least meet the efficiency requirements of class IE 2, and from 2015 it will be mandatory that all new compressors are equipped with IE 3 motors.
