Touch Screen AMOLED Device Goes on Sale in India

Nokia has made its new touch screen AMOLED smartphone available on the Indian market. The Nokia X7 AMOLED tough screen smartphone has gone on sale in India. Available for RS22,000 (£306), the device has a four-inch AMOLED touch screen that offers resolution of resolution of 640 x 360 pixels and 16 million colour shades, an advanced browser and improved sound quality compared to previous models.

It also has a Symbian Anna operating system, the most up-to-date kind developed as yet by the firm. Designed with mobile gaming fans in mind, it has an 8GB memory card, as well as having Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi support and enhanced USB connectivity. With a 1200mAh battery, the device offers 4.5 hours of talk time and 450 hours of standby on a single charge.

New AMOLED developments over the coming year may be prominent as Samsung intends to mass-produce devices incorporating the technology. The Korean firm recently clinched a deal with Japanese company Ube Kosan that while see it providing flexible screens for smartphones and watches from next year, which it says will be "unbreakable".
