Harting Adds Management Functions to Fast Track Switching Technology

Fast Track Switching is an innovative new switching technology. Fast Track Switching is not another new Ethernet protocol approach intended to make Ethernet usable for automation technology applications. On the contrary: Fast Track Switching supports all protocols based on Standard Ethernet, and, with its new switching method, ensures that the necessary requirements that automation technology places on performance and determinism are fully met.

In the past, this was only possible by way of various proprietary approaches. But because the latter change Standard Ethernet, they are restricted in their use and also require special components. Consequently, these solutions fail to meet user wishes to port an Ethernet based system into the automation world enabling the use of all of the degrees of freedom that Standard Ethernet has to offer. The large selection of components and the resulting potential for building up cost-optimized systems represents an even greater benefit that Fast Track Switching has to offer.

Additionally, Fast Track Switching technology has the advantage that it can be used in diverse automation environments. As a result, Fast Track Switching technology allows a switch to be equally effective in PROFINET and EtherNet/IP environments, for example.

The Fast Ethernet switches of the product family Ha-VIS FTS 3000 can identifiy automation profiles (e.g PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP and customized profiles), accelerate their data transmission and prefer them. They are suitable for industrial applications. The product family includes the Ha-VIS FTS 3100s-A which allows the connection of up to 10 network devices over shielded Twisted Pair. It supports Ethernet (10 Mbit/s) and Fast Ethernet (100 Mbit/s). The products, data sheets and Installation notes you will find in the online product catalogue HARKIS®.
