Test Leads Feature Extendable Tips

Fluke has introduced Fluke TL175 Twistguard test leads, which it claims are the only test leads on the market with adjustable length test tips for use in changing measurement situations. The patented extendable tip sheath meets new electrical safety requirements to reduce tip exposure, while providing the versatility needed for most measurements. By simply twisting the test lead, the user can change the exposed probe tip length to anything between 4 and 19mm.

The leads conform to the latest safety standard EN61010-031: 2008, which became effective on 1 March, 2011. Offering Wearguard lead wire-wear indication, Fluke TL175 Twistguard test leads are covered in two layers of silicone insulation. The inner contrasting colour is exposed when the leads are nicked, scuffed, or otherwise damaged and in need of replacement. The double-insulated silicone layers also withstand high temperatures yet remain flexible for use in cold temperatures. Fluke TL175 Twistguard test leads are manufactured to provide extra heavy strain relief on both probe-end and plug-end.

The universal input plugs are compatible with all instruments that accept standard 4mm shrouded banana plugs. For use up to 10A, the electrical safety ratings are CAT II 1,000V; CAT III 1,000V / CAT IV 600V depending on the tip length. The safety rating is indicated for the tip length being used. For added versatility, Fluke TL175E also offers removable 4mm lantern tips.
