Base Connector Clamps Available in Metric Sizes

JW Winco, a supplier of standard industrial machine components, is now offering GN 473 series aluminium two-way base connector clamps in metric sizes. These RoHS-compliant connector mini clamps are available with a ground matte finish or a black anodised finish. In the standard version, the force of the clamp onto the tube is achieved via socket cap screws.

Cap screws are DIN 912, stainless steel, European Standard No 1.4301 (American Standard Series 304). Kits are available that replace the cap screws with adjustable levers and include lever, spacer bushing and hex nut. The various types of mini clamps offered by JW Winco are typically used to build support structures for mounting sensors, plexiglass guards or other elements. They are designed for GN 480.1 tubing.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved. However, if sizing at this level prevents the motor from starting, it may then be necessary to increase the fuse ampere rating and it then becomes important to know the NEC sizing limitations.
