Webinar to Focus on Low-Surface-Energy Substrates

3M is to host a free interactive technical webinar to help industrial users to specify and get the best out of products designed for application to low-surface-energy substrates. The webinar, which will take place at 13:00 on 5 July, will be of interest to anyone in any sector with the requirement to bond to low-surface-energy materials, such as many common plastics, which are traditionally difficult to adhere to.

Nicky Bradley of 3M's Industrial Adhesives and Tapes division said: 'For an adhesive or tape to work effectively, either its surface energy must be as low as or lower than that of the substrate to be bonded, or the surface energy of the substrate must be raised. 'The webinar will examine the physical and chemical issues around bonding to low-surface-energy substrates, discussing the different bonding options available as well as best practice in surface preparation, application and curing. 'There will also be the chance for attendees to discuss their own specific applications through a live question-and-answer session,' she added.
