Axion Recycling Event Highlights MRF Issues
Correct feed preparation for material recovery facilities (MRFs) and the need for regular maintenance and training were among the issues highlighted at Axion Consulting's first MRF event in May. Held in Birmingham, the seminar and exhibition focused on how to make the most of an MRF and how to optimise sorting and segregation technologies. A key feature of the event - entitled 'Designing, building and operating a modern MRF - lessons learned from practical experience' - was useful advice and information from technology experts on their specialist areas.
Topics of interest ranged from the 'minefield' of legislative, planning and compliance issues, explained by Phil Conran and Vicki Cooper from 360 Environmental, to how to make the best use of modern sensor-based sorting technologies and the need for a selection of statistically meaningful sample sizes when measuring MRF performance.
According to specialist recycler Axion, a high level of interest from MRF operators and waste management companies has highlighted the sector's need for an information-sharing event of this type. Exhibitors at the event included Acta Recycling, Dela, IFE Aufberietungstechnik, Ken Mills Engineering, Stadler, S and S Inspection, Titech and Nestro Lufttechnik.
