Compact Servo Amplifier Fits into Any Shirt Pocket
Servo2go has released the 25A8 servo amplifier from Advanced Motion Controls for demanding applications. The 25A8 pulse-width-modulation (PWM) servo amplifier is designed to drive brush-type DC and PMDC motors with and without tachometer feedback. Power MOSFETS and surface-mount technology deliver up to 99 per cent efficiency with switching frequency to 22kHz, according to the company. The user simply provides an unregulated DC input voltage plus an analogue command signal (up to +-15V, 50K input resistance) and operation is immediate. No setup or tuning software is required.
The 25A8 is fully protected against overvoltage, overcurrent, overheating and short circuits across motor, ground and power leads. The new amplifier, priced at USD295 (GBP181), provides 12.5A at 20-80VDC continuous output. Its small size means it can fit into any shirt pocket. Other features include: directional inhibit inputs (active high or active low); separate peak and continuous current limit adjustments; switch-selectable modes for current, voltage, velocity and analogue position loop; and full agency approvals.
