Force Washers can be Mounted on Bolts and Screws

Two new variants of HBM's CFW piezoelectric force washers have been launched to provide nominal (rated) forces of 100kN and 190kN in dynamic measurement tasks. The new sensors have internal diameters of 13mm (100kN) and 21mm (190kN), making them suitable for mounting on bolts and screws with corresponding diameters. The force washers feature very low displacement for high rigidity and also have a very high resonance frequency, making them suitable for highly dynamic measurement tasks.

When selecting the nominal (rated) force, only the necessary overload capacity and the fitting geometry need to be considered as the piezoelectric force washers produce approximately the same output signal for any given force. HBM's CFW piezoelectric force washers have proven themselves in numerous applications. The washers are delivered with centring rings and plug protection. HBM claims they feature excellent linearity, resulting from their symmetrical design. All force washers are tested before delivery and are supplied with a test certificate.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
