Flintec Supplies Loadcells for Petrobras Oil Pumps

Flintec has supplied specialised compression loadcells to Brazilian oil company Petrobras to help improve the reliability of its 'nodding donkey' oil pumps. The CC1 polished rod loadcells were fitted to Petrobras oil pumps to measure the forces acting on the pump booms. The new loadcells look set to be rolled out across further oil pumps operated by Petrobras.

Flintec's loadcells are used for a diverse range of applications, including press fitting in assembly lines, tensioning in textiles and print machinery and integrity in pipes and pumps. The company's products include single-point, beam-type, compression, tension, planar beam and custom-made loadcells, as well as loadcell amplifiers, digitising units, displays and instruments. According to Flintec, it can also customise loadcells and other force measurement products for a variety of challenging applications.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
