AV Jack Suits Use in Small, Portable Devices
TE Connectivity has introduced a compressive 3.5mm AV jack that is designed to fit in various mobile and other small-form factor devices. TE's compressive contact design allows for floating connectors, therefore avoiding solder-joint breakage. If damage is done to the connector, it can be easily replaced in the service centre without soldering, thus saving the cost of service. The switch contact design of the connector enables wiping action, which helps increase the reliability of the switch function, while the switch contact position offers enhanced protection from dust or other contamination, increasing the connector's durability.
Owing to the perpendicular contact insertion, the connector design is resistant to contact push-out during insertion. TE's compressive 3.5mm AV jack allows for 6,000 mating cycles. It also has double contacts, providing increased unmating forces, a minimised component count and a solid and rigid contact design.
