Subrack Allows Multiple Electronics Mounting

Rittal is offering the Ripac Vario subrack for mounting multiple board electronic solutions in 19in (482.6mm) racks, as the range is easily upgraded from standard to EMC after it has been completed. This will provide over 40dB of shielding effectiveness at 1GHz for incoming and outgoing protection. For a simple upgrade, users can add top and bottom covers, a rear panel and gaskets to ensure good electrical and mechanical contact between adjacent surfaces. The Ripac Vario EMC subracks are also available on short lead times, along with EMC front and rear panels, and a range of accessories.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
