Brochure Covers Piezo Actuators For Microfluidics

PI has released a brochure on lever-amplified piezo flexure actuators for applications in microfluidics, biotechnology, medical engineering, mechatronics, adaptronics, metrology and laser technology. PI's Piezomove actuators are said to feature excellent dynamics and high force, making them suitable for applications where the (nanometer) precision is of lesser importance - for example, for fast switching, vibration cancellation, or to adjust tools in machines.

Piezomove actuators combine flexure guided motion with long travel ranges up to 1mm. They are compact, easy to integrate, require no maintenance and provide a long service life. If nanometer precision is required, closed-loop versions are also available.

Applications: microfluidics - valves, pumps, microlitre and nanolitre dosing; biotechnology - cell manipulation, patch-clamp, microarrays, nanolitre dosing, dispensers, and microstructuring with imprint processes; medical engineering - diaphragm pumps, valves, dosing, injection and sample handling; mechatronics - machining; adaptronics - active structures, vibration isolation, active tools, structure deformation; laser technology; metrology - cavity tuning, beam control, control of optics or slit widths and sample positioning.
