PoE Switches For Security Surveillance Tasks

Axiomtek has introduced the Icon-78000 series of industrial harden managed Power of Ethernet (PoE) switches, suitable for outdoor applications such as PoE IP cameras, PoE access points and intercoms. The switches have a wide operating temperature range (-40C to +75C) for extreme environments. The Icon-78000 series features eight PoE ports and provides two Gigabit Ethernet ports and two 10/100base-FX ports, enabling high-speed communications for many industrial applications.

Supporting PoE on ports one to eight, the Icon-78000 series can power IEEE802.3af-compliant devices and transmit data simultaneously, which helps save wiring costs. To provide non-stop Ethernet connection, the Icon-78000 series supports a-Ring technology, which provides fast network recovery within 15ms. The switches' compact size with DIN-rail mounting facilitates installation into control cabinets. The Icon-78000 series provides a flexible and cost-effective solution for device manufacturers wanting to transform existing devices.

Axiomtek's Icon-78000 series supports advanced features such as 802.1Q VLAN, port trunking, IGMP snooping, a rapid spanning tree for redundancy, QoS for priority queuing and port mirroring. Users may choose from SNMP/RMON, web browser or telnet for remote monitoring and configuration. The Icon-78000 series also supports rate control, which allows users to set the maximum bandwidth on each port individually. The device comes equipped with a 48VDC redundant power input via a terminal block or power jack and is secured with power polarity reverse and an overload current resettable fuse. The Icon-78000 series meets Safety Agency requirements and has passed heavy industrial EMI/EMS testing.

Philip Wei, product manager of the Applied Computer and Network Device business unit at Axiomtek, said: 'Axiomtek's extremely rugged Icon-78000 managed PoE Ethernet switches are widely used in security surveillance applications in heavy-duty environments. 'The Icon-78000 series can be used to power IEEE802.3af-compliant powered devices through an Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for additional wiring. 'The compact metal housing with an IP30 rating helps dissipate heat efficiently and protects against the dust and dirt.

'Using an SNMP management console, MIS administrator can manage the switches everywhere. 'Our Icon-78000 industrial PoE Ethernet switches keep your industrial Ethernet applications running non-stop,' he added. The Icon-78000 series features front-facing light-emitting-diode indicators that provide link activity, transmission speed and PoE output status. To fit various application requirements, the device can be DIN-rail, panel or rack mounted.
